Probus 83 Social Activities
Probus ’83 Guildford organise periodic visits for our members, wives and partners as well as other social activities. These visits and other activities are often arranged in cooperation with other local Probus clubs and we are often welcome to participate in their activities. For 2016 these activities included a pub meal and skittles evening, a trip to Salisbury (Cathedral and Arundells), theatre trips and a four day trip to Paris.
During the warmer months we have golf and bowls matches, often against other Probus clubs.
We are the lead Probus Club in organising a visit to Fort Nelson, situated on Portsdown Hill, overlooking Portsmouth peninsular, for Friday July 20th. This trip will be by coach, departing Guildford mid-morning and returning about 5-5.30pm.
Fort Nelson is one of a chain of fortifications built to defend the vital base of Portsmouth. We will have a bespoke talk and tour, with time left for both lunch and free time, during which one can explore the 19 acres of ramparts, outer fortifications, secret tunnels and ammunition bunkers.
Mike Sinclair is the lead organisor, and Cranleigh Probus will be joining us on what is likely to be a memorable trip.
Another trip, to St Mary’s House & Gardens, Bramber, W Sussex, is planned for Wednesday, July 18th, again joining up with Cranleigh Probus.
